Hello MGSD families!
Tuesday, November 24, will be an early release day for our students so they can enjoy the Mooresville Parade that afternoon. All K - 6 grade students will be dismissed at 1:00pm and all 7 - 12 grade students will be dismissed at 12:20pm. Students will also be out of school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. We look forward to seeing them all back on Monday, November 30, on their regular schedule.
This Thanksgiving, here at MGSD we are thankful for our great staff, students and the support of our families and community so... thank you and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Message from the Superintendent
Dear MGSD Community,
I just want to start this letter by saying how thankful I am for our students, staff, parents, and community! We have had the opportunity this summer to host our sixth annual Summer Connection. We had teachers and administrators from 21 districts across 14 states in attendance and there was a reoccurring theme in their comments: MGSD is an amazing district and we are blessed to be part of it! Folks, they were right. There is something special here at MGSD. Despite the current attitude toward public education by some members of our General Assembly, our teachers and staff just keep on keeping on and doing what’s right for all of our children. Despite more budget cuts, and what looks to be another year without any discernible raise, they work harder and are more positive than ever.
Because of this dedication, our students in Mooresville Graded School District continue to excel. NF Woods had more Career and Technical Education students win state and qualify for national competition than ever before at NF Woods! Furthermore, our graduation rate is once again at the 90th percentile and the amount of scholarship dollars accepted by our 2015 seniors was at an all time high!
If this collective achievement is any indication, Mooresville Graded School District will continue its progress in reaching every child, every day! On behalf of the MGSD Board of Education and our entire staff, we thank everyone for your continued belief in our district and helping make this progress possible!
