Hello MGSD families,
Another week has passed as we grow ever closer to the end of our school year! This afternoon Governor Cooper announced that schools will remain closed through the remainder of this school year, but we agree with his words that learning must continue. Yesterday the State Board of Education came out with a statewide grading policy for K-11 due to COVID-19 pandemic and extended school building closures. You will receive additional information regarding the grading policy specific to your child’s school level on Monday from your principals; however, we do want to stress the importance of our students’ continued participation in the remote learning opportunities being provided by our schools to assist in their readiness for school next August. In the meantime, we just have a few reminders. If you ever need to find any of the information surrounding our MGSD VLP, please visit our website at MGSD COVID-19 VLP.
School Nutrition Meals
This week was our first week of the Tuesday/Thursday meal delivery and pickup schedule. Our school nutrition staff is putting in so much work to prepare meals for the children in our community. For those who choose to pick up their meals at Park View and South Elementary Schools, we appreciate your patience when the car line gets long. It all takes a bit of time when you are working to ensure proper safety protocols are being followed while handing out the meals!
If you choose to get meals at one of the numerous bus stops on Tuesday/Thursday, we ask that you also follow social distancing protocols while in line. Our stops have not changed this week and can be found at the following links:

We hope our children are enjoying their meals and that our community finds this service helpful!
MGSD Wellness Support
Last week we shared information about the IWS Open Access Hotline. We have a few more details to give our staff, students, and families this week. The 'hotline' is an open line for any member of the MGSD community, including students, families, and staff, to speak to a licensed counselor to ask questions, share concerns, access evidenced based therapy, or get help with coordination of services, all without having to agree to any continued services or therapy. Please see below for expanded hours:
Information for Parents of Exceptional Children
NCDPI has shared the following newsletter full of information for our families with Exceptional Children. It has several resources that we thought you might find helpful: NCDPI Exceptional Children Information for Parents.
We know we have said it before, but it needs to be said again… We appreciate you and your support! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to serve!
