MGSD COVID-19 Update (5/15/2020)

Hello MGSD families!

School Nutrition Information

We will continue to serve school meals both at Park View and South Elementary Schools, as well as at the designated bus stops through Thursday, May 28.  We are still looking at options to possibly continue to serve meals in some capacity beyond May 28.  We will let you know when we have more information. If needed, the schedules for bus stops and times can be accessed below:

MGSD Technology Update

Also as a reminder, students will keep their iPads/MacBooks over the summer this year. We hope they will use this opportunity to access fun, educational applications throughout the summer.

If you do not want your child to have their device over the summer or if your child is withdrawing from MGSD to attend another school next year, 2nd - 12th grade students  will need to turn in the laptop, charger brick, and 6 foot extension; Kindergarten and 1st graders will return the iPad and charger.  Please bring the device and accessories to MGSD Technology Department, 574 W. McLelland Avenue (NF Woods Campus).  The Technology Department will be available Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00pm.  Please pull into the lower circle drive and call 704.658.2526 when you arrive to let us know you are there to return your equipment.  For those students who will not be returning to a school within MGSD next year, you will be charged for items not returned and your student records will not be transferred to your new school until all returns are made.

2020 - 2021 Revised School Calendar

Due to the North Carolina General Assembly inserting school calendar language into the COVID-19 Relief Legislation that they passed, we will have to revise our MGSD 2020 -2021 School Calendar.  We have been taking stakeholder feedback into consideration and in touch with state leaders to ensure the legislation is being interpreted correctly.  We plan on having the new calendar ready for board approval by the end of May.  We can tell you that the first day of school will be August 17, 2020.  Thank you for your patience as we work through these changes.

Final Thoughts

When we began our school year last August 2019, we had no idea the turn this year would take come March 2020.  That being said, when our schools had to shut down and go to remote learning due to COVID-19, MGSD staff, students, and families did what we do best...kept working together for our children.  That is what makes our Mooresville Community so special.  We may not always get it just right, but we always work hard to do what is right.
