Dual Language lmmersion

MGSD's Spanish Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program offers K-5 students an exciting opportunity to receive 50/50 Spanish and English instruction on an A-Day/B-day rotation. Students receive Spanish instruction from a bilingual teacher every other day and will learn to speak, understand, read, and write in Spanish as well as English. Any rising kindergarten student is eligible to participate and experience a learning environment that will open the door to their becoming bilingual and biliterate while gaining exposure to other cultures and languages. MGSD currently operates DLI classrooms in grades K-5 at all five elementary/intermediate schools, led by phenomenal teaching teams that include 15 teachers from Latin and South America. In the 2026-2027 school year, MGSD expanded the program to 6^th grade, enabling DLI students to continue their journey toward becoming bilingual. In middle school, students have daily Spanish instruction and opportunities for immersive experiences designed to prepare them for success in upper-level high school Spanish courses. Because interest in the program has been tremendously positive, participation is determined by lottery. 

Parents can request placement in the DLI program during online kindergarten enrollment. We will notify parents regarding their child's acceptance into the program later in the spring.
