KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION

Hooray! Let’s go to Kindergarten! The Mooresville Graded School District is thrilled to welcome your learner to our school community, and we can't wait to embark on this incredible journey of discovery with you and your child. This page should have everything you need to start the registration process for your child; however, you can also contact your child’s school if you need specific enrollment information. Are you unsure about which school your child will attend? Our School Search site will assist you with the attendance boundaries for your address. Whether you choose our traditional Kindergarten program or our Spanish Dual-Immersion program, your child will learn and thrive in our MGSD schools.  Welcome to MGSD!

  • How old does my child have to be to enroll in Kindergarten?
Under North Carolina General Statute, children must be five (5) years old by August 31, 2025, in order to attend Kindergarten in 2025 – 2026.

My child is advanced so can I enroll them before the state mandated age requirement?
There is a process for enrolling a child in Kindergarten before the mandated age.  For information on the process, please visit this link:  Early Kindergarten Entry Requirements.

When does the Dual-Immersion lottery window close?
For parents interested in their child taking part in the MGSD Spanish Dual-Immersion program, they must enter the lottery by Friday, May 2, 2025.

I have entered my child into the Dual-Immersion lottery.  When will I find out if they have been placed in the DI program?
Decisions on placement in the Dual-Immersion program will occur at the end of May, and parents will be notified at that time. If your child is not immediately placed in the program due to space, they may be placed on a waiting list.
