❄️ Bringing Warm Meals and Winter Cheer to Every Tray!

December is here, and our School Nutrition team is serving up holiday cheer all month long! We’re excited to share updates from the cafeteria, community partnerships, and seasonal flavors your students will enjoy this month.

🎁 Season of Giving Corner

We’re proud to partner with Toys for Tots this holiday season!
We will be accepting new, unwrapped toy donations now through December 18 at the School Nutrition Office.

🍎 Farm to School Spotlight: From NC Fields to Student Meals

This month we’re excited to serve North Carolina–grown apple slices and sweet potatoes!

These seasonal items help us:

• Support local farmers
• Bring fresher produce to our students
• Celebrate winter flavors naturally rich in vitamins

🌟 Sweet Potato Spotlight: One sweet potato provides over 100% of the daily Vitamin A children need — great for immunity during the winter months!

What's Happening!

📅High School Families: December 11th- December 19th, the High School cafe team will be running a special menu due to exams! Be sure to plan ahead by visiting our website to see what’s being served. https://menus.healthepro.com/organizations/1522

🍑 Peach Cobbler Was a Hit!
Last month, Peach Cobbler made its debut and students loved it. We’re thrilled to bring comfort-food favorites to our cafeterias as the weather gets colder.

🍪 Holiday Cookie 
Students will receive a holiday-themed Christmas tree cookie with their school meal on December 11th.

25-26 Free & Reduced Meal Application. With Higher Income Eligibility Standards this year, your children could qualify!

The 2025 - 2026 Free & Reduced Meal Application is now available. Just a friendly reminder that an application must be completed every new school year. It costs nothing to apply but if approved, your child will receive delicious and healthy breakfast and lunch meals for free.* Click the following link to be directed to the 25-26 application: https://www.lunchapplication.com/.

*The N.C. General Assembly has elected to cover the copay for reduced-price meals for the 25-26 school year.

Good news! You only need to submit one Free & Reduced Meal Application per household—no need to fill one out for each student.
Also, if at any time your household dynamics change you can reapply as often as needed.
